To Get Her

I was lucky enough to find a copy of this in the net and get to watch it. This is one of those drama series (or as we Filipinos call it "Asianovelas") that I really liked.

It's about an artist fallen from grace. And it's a story of how he struggled to get back to the top. Along the way, he had experience life and love. In the end, he got both.

The story was well written and the dialogue was well made (okay...I don't really speak Mandarin so I rely on the fan subbing which was done pretty well). The characters have developed pretty well and there is no lull in the story that after one episode, you will be craving for more.

The actors who played the parts were really good. Jiro Wang (Wang Dong Cheng) who plays Mars/Zhuang Jun Nan really played the part well. When he pretended to still be famous, you would feel irritated towards his character because he was so obnoxious. When he finally came to terms that he wasn't famous anymore, you can see his "true character" making you like him as the series progress. His acting is really good and you can see the emotion in his eyes. His only flaw, he can't cry. He needs to develop that more.

Rainie Yang (Yang Cheng Lin) played Chen Mo Mo. Personally, I have been watching dramas that starred her and this was the only series where I really liked her character. She played the role well. Her character was quiet that people don't really notice her much but when they do, she would either be bullied or she would say something really smart that would left you dumbfounded. She developed her character really well and unlike Jiro, she has no problem crying on cue.

George Hu (Hu Yu Wei) who played Wei Jia Sen was also remarkable. He plays a guy who as they describe it in the series "hasn't matured since he was 10". He mentioned that he really had to research his character so that he can do the part well. You feel for him at some parts of the series because of his disability. But man, the guy could swim!

Usually, Taiwan idol dramas would adapt stories based on Mangas. But if To Get Her is a unique story, they did a great job writing it...getting the actors together and creating a very good series.

It's only flaw to me that's why it's only 4 tumbling babies is the fact that Jiro and Rainie don't really have chemistry. Alone, they were pretty good playing their characters but together, especially in parts where the light romance was suppose to be, I didn't really feel it.

All in all, a good series recommended for people who really like to watch Asianovelas. For people, who don't you might like it since it's different from the usual Filipino dramas that isn't complete without someone crying all the time or was suppose to be dead only to find out that he/she has resurrected. It has the light drama, comedy, romance with the tinge of real life aspect.

Good point, though sometimes it's hard to arrive to definite conclusions
